The Associação de Capoeira Mestre Bimba, located at number one Rua das Laranjeiras in the Pelourinho district of Salvador, occupies the space where Manoel dos Reis Machado, known as Mestre Bimba, established his pioneering school in nineteen thirty-two. Originally titled the Centro de Cultura Física e Regional da Bahia, this site served as the first formal academy for his style of Capoeira Regional.
