Tvrđava Minčeta

Minčeta Tower is the highest point of the city walls in Dubrovnik, recognizable by its circular stone form that towers above the surrounding rooftops. Named after the Menčetić family who once owned the land, the site began as a four-sided fort built in thirteen nineteen by a local master builder, Nicifor Ranjina. When the expansion of the Ottoman Empire necessitated stronger defenses in the mid-fifteenth century, the city initiated a major redesign to adapt the structure for artillery warfare.
