The Church of the Immaculate Conception is identifiable by its long, plain white exterior walls that line the street, standing directly across from the Presidential Palace in Quito’s historic center. Founded on January thirteen, fifteen seventy-seven, this is the oldest convent in the city. It remains an active, cloistered monastery where the Conceptionist sisters observe their prayer life behind walls that have stood since the seventeenth century.
