The Chapel of Saint-Louis-de-la-Salpêtrière is recognizable by its prominent octagonal dome, which rises sixty-five meters above the grounds of the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital. Located at forty-seven Boulevard de l'Hôpital in the thirteenth arrondissement, this seventeenth-century structure was commissioned by King Louis XIV to serve as the spiritual heart of a vast institution built on the site of a former gunpowder factory.
