Port Saint-Sauveur is a stretch of water and dockside along the Canal du Midi, recognizable by the modern harbor master’s office that once served as a warehouse for canal goods. Created in eighteen thirty, it exists as an extension of the older Port Saint-Étienne. At the time, the original port struggled to manage the rapid growth of inland waterway traffic, and boat captains began mooring in this nearby canal bend to avoid high taxes.
