Burgplatz

The Burgplatz is a wide, cobblestone square situated between the historic Altstadt and the Rhine River. It features the Schlossturm, a solitary, sturdy tower that stands as the final remaining piece of a massive castle complex once occupying this entire area. The pavement contains an outline of differently colored stones marking the former footprint of the palace buildings, which were destroyed in a fire in eighteen seventy-two.
