Heinrich-Heine-Denkmal

The Heinrich Heine monument at Schwanenmarkt consists of oversized, bronze fragments of the poet’s death mask, scattered across the ground within and around a cuboid frame of metal rods. Created by the local sculptor Bert Gerresheim and unveiled in nineteen eighty-one, the work incorporates various symbolic objects, including a drum and a fool's bell, to represent the life and work of Düsseldorf’s most famous literary son.
