Stadttor

The Stadttor, or City Gate, stands out for its two glass towers connected by a vast, airy atrium that rises fifty-six meters through the center of the structure. Completed in nineteen ninety-eight and designed by the architectural firm Petzinka, Overdiek and Partners, this seventy-five-meter-tall building marks the southern entrance to the city’s major underground road, the Rheinufertunnel. Because it sits directly over this sunken artery, the building is shaped like a parallelogram to follow the tunnel’s path.
