The Radschlägerbrunnen on Burgplatz features two bronze boys caught in the mid-motion of a cartwheel. Commissioned by the Düsseldorfer Jonges association and inaugurated in nineteen fifty-four, the fountain was designed by sculptor Alfred Zschorsch to honor a local tradition where children performed acrobatics on the streets to earn a penny. The bronze figures stand atop a massive basin carved from a single block of Franconian shell limestone.
