Salon des Amateurs

The Salon des Amateurs is a lounge and music venue built directly into the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, a concrete Brutalist cube at Grabbeplatz. The interior is a long, narrow space defined by a seven-meter bar made of dark green Anröchter stone and a glowing, floor-to-ceiling slatted wall inspired by the Russian constructivist El Lissitzky. Above the dance floor hangs a four-meter-tall bronze sculpture of the prophet Habakkuk by the Dadaist artist Max Ernst.
