Cafe Mondegar

Cafe Mondegar is identifiable by the dense, colorful cartoons covering its inner walls and entrance ceiling. Established in nineteen thirty-two by Iranian Zoroastrian settlers, the café originally operated out of the reception area of the Apollo Hotel within the Metro House building. It gained a reputation in the mid-twentieth century as the first establishment in Mumbai to feature a jukebox, a machine that remains a centerpiece of the room.
