Alamgir Masjid

The Alamgir Mosque rises above the Panchganga Ghat, distinguished by a massive stone platform that anchors it directly over the riverbank. Commissioned by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in the late seventeenth century, the structure takes its name from his imperial title, which translates to "Conqueror of the World." It was built atop the foundations of the earlier Bindu Madhav Temple, incorporating stone pillars and architectural elements from the original shrine into its walls.
