Beurstraverse

other

The Beurstraverse is a shopping street that sits entirely below ground level, running directly beneath the busy Coolsingel road. Designed by architect Pi de Bruijn and completed in nineteen ninety-six, it functions as a sunken pedestrian link connecting the city’s two major shopping districts, the Lijnbaan and the Hoogstraat. You can recognize this spot by its wide, descending staircases that pull you down from the street level into a subterranean arcade lined with storefronts.
