Mural "Obrońca"

The mural "Obrońca"—or "Defender"—appears as a portrait constructed entirely from weathered pieces of wood collected across the Imperial Shipyard in Gdańsk. First unveiled in June twenty eighteen on the facade of the former fire station, the installation uses reclaimed materials that once witnessed the industrial history of the shipyard. Each piece of wood remains in its original state, left unpainted to preserve the textures and marks that the artist, Stefaan De Croock, describes as metaphorical scars.
