Długa Street is defined by a continuous row of narrow, colorful merchant houses that stretch between two decorated stone gateways. Known as the Long Street, this thoroughfare formed the primary residential and commercial district for the city's wealthy patrician families starting in the Middle Ages. It is the central segment of the Royal Route, the ceremonial path once followed by Polish monarchs during their official visits to Gdańsk.
