Mariacka Street

Mariacka Street is marked by its narrow, cobblestone path lined with tall, slender townhouses and their distinctive elevated stone terraces, known as przedproża. Stretching one hundred eighty-five meters, this street connects the massive brick structure of Saint Mary's Basilica to the historic Saint Mary's Gate on the Motława River. Once called Frauengasse, the street began to develop in the fourteenth century as a home for the city’s wealthy merchants and master craftsmen.
