Golden Gate

The Golden Gate stands as a Renaissance structure defined by its pale stone façade and two tiers of classical columns, which give it the appearance of a ceremonial triumphal arch. Designed by the architect Abraham van den Blocke and completed in sixteen fourteen, it replaced a thirteen-century Gothic gate at the western entrance to the city's main thoroughfare, Długa Street.
