The Long Market is a wide, rectangular promenade in the heart of Gdańsk, lined with rows of richly decorated, multi-colored residential buildings. Unlike the traditional square found in most Polish cities, this space functions as an elongated ceremonial artery. It originated in the thirteenth century as a merchant road and later became the grand entry point for visiting Polish monarchs, who traveled along this route toward the city center.
