St. Mary's Gate

St. Mary’s Gate in Gdańsk is a late Gothic structure recognizable by its pair of tall, octagonal towers capped with pyramid-shaped roofs. Built during the last quarter of the fifteenth century, this gate served as one of the key passages in the city’s defensive wall along the Motława River. On the river-facing side, the brick façade displays three coats of arms representing the Republic of Poland, Royal Prussia, and Gdańsk.
