Museum of the Second World War

museum

The Museum of the Second World War is distinguished by a sharp, leaning red tower that rises at a dramatic angle from the ground. Designed by the Gdynia-based Kwadrat architectural studio and opened in twenty seventeen, the structure is deliberately somber, with much of its immense exhibition space concealed deep underground. It occupies a site on the banks of the Radunia Canal, positioned within three kilometers of the Westerplatte Peninsula, where the opening shots of the war were fired in September nineteen thirty-nine.
