European Solidarity Centre

The European Solidarity Centre is a large, irregularly shaped building covered in rusted, reddish-brown steel panels that resemble the hull of a ship under construction. Located at the site of the former Gdańsk Shipyard, the structure features tilted walls that seem to be cracking or pulling apart. This design, created by the architecture firm Fort, was intended to honor the industrial character of the shipyard where the Solidarity movement began in August nineteen eighty.
