The Museum of the Galician People is housed within the former convent of Santo Domingo de Bonaval, a structure you can identify by its complex, multi-layered architectural history ranging from the thirteenth century to the Baroque era. The building is most immediately recognizable by the triple helical staircase designed by the architect Domingo de Andrade between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. This granite marvel consists of three independent spiral ramps that share a single vertical space and central void.
