Alderdi Eder Park

Alderdi Eder Park is recognized by its geometric flowerbeds and rows of tamarix trees, which were specifically chosen for their ability to withstand the coastal winds blowing off La Concha Bay. Located directly between the San Sebastián City Hall and the sea, this public space stretches across land that was once used for military maneuvers following the demolition of the city’s defense walls in eighteen sixty-three. The name itself is Basque for "beautiful place," an official title adopted on May twenty-eighth, eighteen seventy-nine.
