Tabakalera

Tabakalera is defined by the prominent glass prism that rises from the top of its massive central body. This rectangular structure, which spans one hundred and thirteen by seventy-five meters, sits in the Egia district near the Estación del Norte railway station. For ninety years, beginning in nineteen thirteen, the building functioned as a state-owned tobacco factory. During its peak in the nineteen twenties, more than one thousand people, the majority of them women, worked within these walls producing cigars and cigarettes.
