The Urgulleko Historiaren Etxea, or House of History, occupies the stone interior of the Castillo de la Mota at the summit of Monte Urgull. This fortress, ordered by King Sancho the Seventh of Navarre in the twelfth century, served for centuries as a vital defensive bastion for San Sebastián. Visitors today find a museum tucked within the ancient ramparts that uses models, objects, and audiovisual displays to trace eight hundred years of city life.
