Schützenbrunnen

The Schützenbrunnen is recognized by the colorful statue of an armed, armored marksman standing atop a stone pillar. Attributed to sculptor Hans Gieng and dating to fifteen forty-three, the figure holds a banner in his right hand and a sword in his left. At his feet, a small bear cub aims a rifle, a detail that nods to the city's long history of shooting societies and citizen militias.
