Kloetzlikeller

The Klötzlikeller is distinguished by a traditional lantern that hangs outside, marking the entrance to a staircase leading deep into a seventeenth-century vaulted cellar. Located at Gerechtigkeitsgasse sixty-two, this space has operated as a restaurant since sixteen thirty-five. It is the last remaining venue of its kind in Bern, once part of a network of over two hundred city cellars where patrician families sold wine from their own vineyards along the shores of Lake Biel to the city’s residents.
