The Aquarium of the Bay is defined by three hundred feet of clear acrylic tunnels that submerge visitors in a recreation of the San Francisco Bay habitat. Located at the edge of Pier Thirty-Nine, this non-profit institution contains over seven hundred thousand gallons of salt water and is the only Smithsonian-affiliated aquarium in California.
