McKinley Square sits atop Potrero Hill, framed by stone walls from the nineteen thirties and a distinctive fan-shaped arched staircase at the intersection of Twentieth and Vermont Streets. Originally known as Buena Vista Square, it was renamed in nineteen ten for President William McKinley shortly after his death. The park covers a rugged slope that offers views of Twin Peaks, Mount Davidson, and the downtown skyline.
