The Baker and Hamilton Building at six hundred one Townsend Street is a massive, four-story brick structure with a prominent "Baker & Hamilton" sign visible on its exterior. Built in nineteen oh five, it stands as a relic of San Francisco's era as a Pacific Coast commercial hub. Architects Albert Sutton and Charles Peter Weeks designed the facility for the Pacific Hardware and Steel Company, providing a base for heavy industry in what was then a developing manufacturing warehouse district.
