Vermont Street in the Potrero Hill neighborhood features a distinctive series of seven sharp, hairpin turns between Twentieth and Twenty-second Streets. While its famous cousin, Lombard Street, draws crowds for its red brick and elaborate flower beds, Vermont Street is paved with standard concrete and maintains a steeper grade of fourteen point three percent. This segment of the road, which runs alongside the U.S. 101 freeway, has long been a subject of local debate regarding its status as the most crooked street in the city.
