The Ecology Trail is a route through the Presidio that connects the Main Post to the overlook at Inspiration Point. The path winds through the Tennessee Hollow watershed, moving through a landscape that shifts between shaded redwood groves and open, serpentine grasslands. These grasslands are defined by soil rich in greenish serpentine rock, providing a specific habitat for native plants like the Presidio clarkia, which blooms with delicate pink flowers from May through July.
