El Polín Spring is a perennial water source at the heart of the Tennessee Hollow watershed, marked by a peaceful green glade and a restored riparian habitat. Long before the surrounding Presidio was developed, this spring provided essential freshwater to the indigenous Ramaytush Ohlone. By eighteen twelve, it became the site of San Francisco’s first suburb, where colonial families built adobe homes decades before the city of Yerba Buena officially existed.
