The Main Parade Lawn is a seven-acre expanse of open grass framed by historic red brick buildings in the heart of the Presidio. Established in eighteen ninety-eight, the site originally functioned as a dusty training ground where soldiers stationed in the adjacent Montgomery Street Barracks performed drills and military ceremonies.
