City Market is defined by a series of restored nineteenth-century grain warehouses that stretch four blocks between Ellis and Franklin Squares. While you can now find restaurants, art galleries, and shops housed within these brick structures, the site served as Savannah’s central commercial hub for over two centuries. Farmers and fishermen originally gathered here at dawn to trade their goods, while horse-drawn carriages arrived to drop off residents for daily errands.
