Rainbow Row

Rainbow Row is a series of thirteen Georgian row houses stretching along East Bay Street, immediately recognizable by their cheerful, pastel-colored facades. Built between the mid-eighteenth and late eighteenth centuries, these structures originally fronted directly on the city’s working waterfront. Merchants of that era typically operated shops or counting rooms on the ground floors, with their private living quarters located on the levels above.
