The French Huguenot Church on Church Street is distinguished by its rose-tinted stucco walls and pointed Gothic windows, making it one of the few structures in Charleston to embrace the Gothic Revival style. Completed in eighteen forty-five, this is the third church to occupy this site. The congregation traces its origins to the sixteen eighties, when French Protestants, or Huguenots, fled religious persecution in their homeland to settle in the new colony.
