St. Michael's Church

St. Michael's Church rises above the intersection of Broad and Meeting streets, marked by a white, one-hundred-eighty-six-foot steeple and a massive two-story portico with Tuscan columns. As the oldest church building in Charleston, it was constructed between seventeen fifty-two and seventeen sixty-one on the site where the city’s first Anglican church, St. Philip's, originally stood in the sixteen-eighties.
