The Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge features rows of narrow concrete crevices tucked beneath its road deck, a structural quirk that created the largest urban bat colony in the world. While the bridge spans nine hundred and ten feet over Lady Bird Lake, its most famous inhabitants arrive every spring from Mexico to roost in these dark, warm gaps.
