The Paramount Theatre on Congress Avenue is identifiable by its tall, vertical blade sign that glows with the name Paramount above a marquee extending across the facade. Built in nineteen fifteen and originally named the Majestic, the structure was designed in the classical revival style by Chicago architect John Eberson. It first brought vaudeville acts to the city, including performers like the Marx Brothers and Harry Houdini.
