Sir Swante Palm Neighborhood Park

Sir Swante Palm Neighborhood Park is marked by a distinctive historic stone shelter house that sits amidst its open, flat green space. Located downtown between Interstate thirty-five and Red River Street, this one point eight-acre site occupies land that once served as an armory and a military base for the Republic of Texas. In the decades after the school board took over the grounds in eighteen eighty-seven, the area became a playground for the neighboring Palm School.
