The Dallas World Aquarium is housed within a complex of repurposed brick warehouses in the West End Historic District. While the exterior retains the industrial character of buildings constructed in nineteen twenty-four and nineteen twenty-nine, the interior was gutted to create an immersive environment that spans several levels. It opened to the public in October nineteen ninety-two, founded by Daryl Richardson as a space to display exotic plants and animals.
