The South Brisbane Town Hall is distinguished by a tall clock tower that rises above the Vulture Street intersection. Built between eighteen ninety-one and eighteen ninety-two, the building displays an Italianate Classic Revival style, constructed from red bricks and accented with sandstone and decorative terracotta panels. Although officially named the South Brisbane Municipal Chambers, the structure served as the center of local government for the independent Borough of South Brisbane until the council was disbanded in nineteen twenty-five.
