The Allgas Building is a two-story rendered masonry structure with a parapeted facade that stands as a remnant of the former Stanley Street streetscape. Built in eighteen eighty-five, it features a decorated northern elevation with window bays, rusticated surrounds, and a deep cornice topped by pediments. It was originally known as Caledonian House and served as the premises for the drapery firm Allan and Stark during a period of intense commercial growth in South Brisbane.
