The Brisbane Arcade is defined by its long, light-filled central gallery capped with a high steel-framed glass roof. Opened in nineteen twenty-four, this is Brisbane’s oldest and grandest shopping arcade, designed by architect Richard Gailey Junior in the Edwardian Baroque style. It spans the distance between Queen Street Mall and Adelaide Street, providing a sheltered pedestrian path lined with original terrazzo floors, decorative ironwork, and shopfronts that have housed boutique jewelers and fashion designers for a century.
