Gallery of Modern Art

museum

The Gallery of Modern Art, or GOMA, is defined by its sweeping glass walls and an aerofoil blade roof that curves upward against the skyline. Opened in two thousand six on the banks of the Brisbane River, it serves as the contemporary counterpart to the neighboring Queensland Art Gallery. While much of the city's cultural precinct aligns parallel to the water, this building is positioned perpendicularly, creating a deliberate visual break that anchors the site at Kurilpa Point.
