Queens Gardens

Queens Gardens is a square park in the center of Brisbane, defined by its flat, open lawn and its position between the historic Treasury Building and the former Lands Administration Building. The site underwent a long evolution, beginning in the eighteen twenties as a convict-era lumber yard and the location of a weatherboard cottage. By the mid-nineteenth century, the land transitioned to the Church of England, eventually hosting St John’s Pro-Cathedral and a synod hall until those structures were cleared in the early nineteen hundreds to make way for the public gardens.
