The Regent Arcade occupies a space that once held one of Australia's most luxurious cinemas, The Regent Theatre. Opening in June nineteen twenty-eight, the theatre was a glamorous picture palace featuring a double foyer with blue and fawn carpets, rucked silk curtains, and marble statuettes. It was also one of the first buildings in Adelaide equipped with air-conditioning.
