Union House is recognizable by its blend of exposed red brick, off-form concrete, and expressed timberwork, a design style that earned it a reputation as a sophisticated example of Adelaide Regionalism. Completed in nineteen seventy-five, the building was created by architects Dickson and Platten to serve as the social hub for students at the University of Adelaide. It was built to incorporate and complement the older, Georgian-style buildings on the site, including the historic memorial cloisters.
