Fairmont Le Château Frontenac is defined by its massive copper roofs and soaring turrets that silhouette against the skyline of Old Quebec. Built on Cap Diamant, the hotel opened in eighteen ninety-three as a luxury destination for travelers arriving by the Canadian Pacific Railway. William Van Horne, the railway's general manager, commissioned American architect Bruce Price to design the building in a style inspired by French Renaissance castles.
